Auditions 2009
Open auditions will be held on one day of each weekend, one in Parksville and one in Nanaimo. Regardless if you have been in a B2B show, directors need to see you and see you work along with others auditioning. This is an open call; no audition times need be booked. Come with a short monologue and part of a song. For information, email Gary Brown at stageguy@shaw.ca. B2B will once again be looking for about forty actors for the 2009 season. Also seeking those interested in crew - lighting, sound, costumes, props, sets and stage managing - please let us know if interested. For all you actors out there, here is a brief list of the types of roles available this year: Oliver! - this big musical will have a cast of about 21 singers, dancers and actors. There are major roles for almost every age group. Roles for young people (boys and girls) include; Oliver, the Artful Dodger, the orphans and Fagin's gang of pick-pockets. Roles for adults (many great character roles for all ages) include Nancy, Fagin, Bill Sikes, Mr Bumble, the Sowerberrys, widow Corney, Bet and many more. Little Shop of Horrors - this small musical, small cast, has no small parts. Roles for women include Audrey, Chiffon, Ronette, Crystal. For men, Seymour, Mr Mushnick, Orin (the Dentist), Audrey II (voice), Audrey II (puppeteer) Glorious - this wonderful play also has a cast with no small parts. The true story of Florence Foster Jenkins offers a starring role as Florence for a mature woman. Her best friend Dorothy, her Mexican maid and the woman who tries to crush Florence are terrific roles for women of a variety of ages. Men in the cast include Cosme, Florence's new accompanist and her old friend and over the hill actor Sinclair. The Foreigner has a cast of five men and two women. "Froggy" LeSeure is late 50ish, a brash, adventurous British military officer. His sidekick, Charlie Baker, about the same age or slightly younger, is a quiet, even sullen, fellow (who comes to the fore later on). Betty Meeks is an elderly, strong-willed but gentle character. The Reverend David Marshall Lee is 30ish, very confident and self-possessed; even conniving. His fiancée, Catherine Simms is late 20s, a diamond in the rough -- strong-willed but conventional. Her younger brother, Ellard, is 20ish, somewhat backward but with some spunk. Sheriff Owen Musser, 40ish, is a real southern cracker (an ugly white-supremacist). |
